A-Level: AS
Unit 1
There will be a theme for this unit and you will work on until after Christmas. This project will begin with the teacher leading you through ideas and teaching you new skills, both practical and analytical. You will then inevitably find an area that interests you within the theme that you will be able to pursue to a final outcome. This is a fantastic opportunity to discover your own style and interests in Art as well as developing your sense of curiosity with materials.

Unit 2
This is the external assignment; the exam. You will have preparation time for this exam just like you do at GCSE

A-Level: A2

Unit 3

This unit is an exploritory unit where you are able to choose an area of Art that appeals to you. You focus on one aspect of Art so choose an area that you can see yourself enjoying. We help you to discover what this is but you are responsible for making the final decision.

The relationship that you have with your teacher is different to last year. Your teacher is more of a reference point; you dictate where your work goes and what you explore.

There are two outcomes to this unit, one is an essay - an extensive, illustrated critical study essentially. The second is a piece of practical work that is the product of your investigations and experiments based on what you learned about your chosen area.

See the 'Critical Analysis' page for more guidance about writing your essay.

You will start this in the June after you return from study leave (after AS)

Unit 4

This is your examination. It will be the same set-up as the AS examination however you will have 12 hours instead of 8 hours for your exam.

More information will appear here nearer the time.
